Wine School

To reserve seats, about missed classes, and other important info.

Your seat will be reserved upon receipt of payment (Credit Card, by cash or by check). Please call the store to reserve your seat 604-531-0038.

If you pay by check, please send it to the address at the bottom of this page. Put your telephone number on your check(s) for confirmation purposes. You must be at least 19 years of age to attend. Refunds will be issued for the courses if canceled 10 days before the course.

Course fees cover wines sampled, handouts & the use of proper glassware.

All sessions are approximately 90 minutes starting at 730pm and are held at Mud Bay Wines - South Surrey

There will be crackers provided for every event, unless otherwise specified. We recommend that you have a meal prior to the class.

Please taste responsibly and arrange for a safe ride home.

Missed classes may be made up at no charge the next time the same course is offered provided we are given sufficient notice of intent to attend and there is space available.

 

The Basics Part I & II

The Basics Course is aimed at those either just developing their interest in wines or for those who need a good review (it is offered every Month).

$25 per person/class + hst

Basics Part I: In this class we will discuss briefly how grape growing and wine making affect wine styles and flavors plus the art & technique of wine tasting. We will Swirl, sniff, slurp and spit! Sounds like fun, well it is!

February 16, March 15 & April 12

Basics Part II: This session elaborates on wine tasting techniques and expands on wine attributes such as color, aroma and flavor. We will also focus on vocabulary and pronunciation so you can communicate with other wine geeks!!

Varietal & EasterTastings

THE VARIETALS & EASTER TASTINGS

The Varietals Course takes up where the Basics left off. It will focus on the more than 2 dozen grape varieties which are distinct (and commercially successful) enough to produce interesting wines (it is offered every semester). The Easter Tasting focuses on pairing with with traditional Easter dinner including some side dish pairings.

$35 per person/class + hst

 "Fuller, Richer Whites":  March 2

Chardonnay, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Pinot blanc and Pinot gris are the focus of this tasting.  

 "Crisp and Light Whites": March 9

 Sauvignon blanc, Sémillon, Auxerios & Chenin Blanc are featured.

"Big Bold Reds": March 16

 Cabernet-Sauvignon, Cabernet franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Meritage.

 "Light and Gutsy Reds" :March 23

Pinot noir & Gamay plus SyrahPinotage

 "Fruity-Floral Whites": March 29

Riesling, Gewürztaminer, Ehrenfelser, Muscat & Kerner.

Wines for Easter Dinner : April 20
